If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
It’s a good mantra to live by. It means that you have to think through things before you make decisions and by the nature of planning, you must have already identified what it is you are trying to achieve.
It’s much the same as for strategy. Strategy is the ultimate top-line plan. It helps you lay-out what it is you want to achieve in your business, how you are going to achieve it and when. It might not have all the details about what press release you are going to do in what day but it’s going to tell you if you need to even write press releases and what for.
There is a reason that the meaning of life is one of the biggest questions we have. People don’t like feeling that they are on this planet with no intended plan, what are we doing here, or in other words, what is the strategy behind it? It’s in our human nature to question things and your strategy document is where you can document your conclusions.
They’re not easy documents, they are thought-provoking documents that should be written over a period of a couple of months. It is unlikely that you will be able to nail it in a day, come back to it with new points of view and in different frames of mind.
You will go through many questions, ponderings and select all deletes before you nail it but when you know what the meaning of your company is, it makes it all worth-while.
No More Ifs Or Buts.
