Here are some steps that can be followed to help overcome your fears:
Be honest with yourself
Acknowledge and agree with yourself that you’re not there to conquer your fear, you are there to manage the fear so that you are in control.
Take baby steps
By bringing ourselves closer and closer to our fears, we can make small steps of progress. Going a few steps higher each time we are scared of heights; counting to 1, 2, 3 when we see a spider, then counting up to 4, 5, 6 the next time.
Focus on feeling calm
Easy to say when you’re not facing your fears head on but focusing on breathing slowly and deeply, in and out will release endorphins and help your body to feel calm, relieving tension.
Speak to an expert
Some fears are so extreme they can’t be overcome on your own, consider seeking specialist advice to help you work through it. Don’t let your fear rule your life, make sure you rule your fear.
