The No More Ifs Or Buts Leadership Academy is focused on developing emotionally intelligent leaders to give them the skills they need to be successful leaders. We encourage leaders to be curious, courageous, and ambitious so that they can work better together and make a positive impact. We show delegates what it takes to be a leader and guide them in developing their own path in order to get there.
We use the personal assessment tool DiSC to profile delegates at the beginning of the Academy. The results of this are then integrated throughout the Academy to build their understanding of what their profile means and how they can use this information to communicate more effectively with clients and colleagues.
The Academy is broken down into 10 modules:
1. What it takes to be a leader
If Leadership is a behaviour, not a position, how can leaders ensure they are operating at their optimum? We look at what being a leader means and how we can be even more of a leader whether it comes naturally to us or not. We Identify what it takes to be a leader and the different approaches to leadership that people take. Identifying what behaviours we show that is reflective of the leader we want to be.
2. Insights into who you are
Who are you as a leader? Why are you the way you are? Where do you want to go and what are your leadership goals? What are the values that guide your approach to your job? Our leadership diagnostic within this module will help leaders answer these questions.
3. Strengthen your EQ
Building emotional intelligence and connection to colleagues comes easily for some and for others it is a daily practice. This module delves into what we need to understand about ourselves to ensure we can start to understand how to connect with others in a way that creates connection and impact.
4. Coaching as a leadership style
Learn to adopt a coaching mindset to expand from being a manager who organises to a leader who inspires. This module discovers the difference between leading, managing, mentoring and coaching and understands how building our coaching skills can help transform a fixed mindset into a growth mindset. We will start to develop our leaders’ own set of killer questions and improve their listening skills.
5. How we learn and therefore how we can guide
We will discuss the what and how roadmap, explore learning models, learning cycles, situational leadership and the importance of psychological contracting so that leaders can identify motivations and know how to use this to motivate their teams.
6. Connecting through communication
Some conversations are important yet have the potential to result in conflict and negative emotions. At the same time, not all potentially conflictual conversations need to be had. This module helps leaders decide which difficult conversations they need to have and how they can best approach these conversations?
7. Being an authentic leader
Authentic Leaders must know who they are at their core. They also have to manage potential pressure points between their values and those expected of them by their organisation. This module delves into what we mean by authenticity and how important it is to be the best version of ourselves and not someone else.
8. Setting your strategy
This module moves your team development strategy forward from a resourcing plan to understanding how you as a leader can develop your team to where you need them to be when you know what that place is. We will focus on creating a structured approach to your strategy for your development and the development of the entire team. We look at the gaps you might have in your team and how to plan the development and recruitment needs around them.
9. Managing the complexities of stakeholders
In a high-pressure role, the pressure is always on to please everyone. This can’t always be done but we can learn how to manage stakeholders in the most appropriate, effective and easiest way. This module highlights how to map stakeholders and how to manage complex stakeholder relationships. We review communication style preferences and how we can be as efficient as possible when it comes to the approach that we take to managing stakeholders.
10. Managing your personal brand
Leaders in organisations are more successful when followers and peers know and understand what they stand for and what their core capabilities and goals are. Understanding and managing your personal brand is, therefore, an important leadership capability and has an important impact on leadership success.
